A Genderbent Neverland Adventure

HOOKPAN

bare essentials: Pan and Hook.  A Curious Adventure

Peter Pan and Captain Hook, eternal foes in James Berry’s mysterious Neverland.  But what happens to their relationship when Hook starts turning into a proper young woman?  There’s only one way to find out!  Take my hand and fly with me to a genderbent Neverland!

I based Pan & Hook primarily on the original play by James Berry, trying to keep the playful, child-like tone and style while also exploring the themes of the play.  If you haven’t read it, the play obsesses on the boy’s hunger and need for a mother-figure, and that holds true in my tale as well.

I have tried to create a gender bender story set firmly in the world Berry created, though with some liberties taken with the geography.  You will find pixies and pirates, Lost Boys and crocodiles!   I hope you enjoy!

New Series Coming Soon!

QUARTERMAINCVRalt

I will release the first book in my new bare essentials line of quick reads soon and just wanted to give my erstwhile readers a look at the cover. I have to say I was inspired to write and release this series by Jessie Ash’s fun Mico Mini series, which if you like short stories with a TG twist, you should. The  bare essentials  series will feature brief, 10,000 word stories that aim to maximize your pleasure in minimized time.

The first book will feature legendary big game hunter Allan Quartermain, the character who served as the model for Indiana Jones.  Quartermain finds himself transformed into a young miss during Victorian Times, and must quest to regain his lost manhood all while dealing with the biases of his age regarding the weaker sex!

I will be releasing other series that will feature famous men from literary history dealing with feminine realities– all in the public domain, of course, and all of these quick reads will be priced to be easy on the old bank account.  My list of possible men includes  Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Jeckyl from Victorian times, as well as mythological figures such as Hercules and Thor.

Who would you like to see reshaped into a woman and forced to see how the other half lives?  Comment, but remember the character must be at least a 100 years old so he has entered the public domain.

Oh, and there are still 5 books out there to be claimed in TG Kadee’s giveaway!  Enter to win!

The house is haunted, his parents are crazy and Kevin has his first crush.  It’s The Conjuring meets Shameless in a book that will have your skin crawling one minute and your sides aching from laughter the next!

Speaking of crazy, I am celebrating the release of my new book by giving away 20 copies, and all you have to do for a chance to win is Follow my Amazon Author Page!  The odds of winning this funny, scary and moving novel are 1-15!

Unlike works like Brain Biters and The Shattered Isles series, this book does not focus primarily on gender, though gender issues arise as they do in modern life.  This is a book about a 13 year old kid with a dysfunctional family who just really does not want to have to deal with ghosts right now on top of everything else.

One last note.  I am only charging .99 cents for this 196 page novel.  Please do not think that price reflects a lesser commitment to quality on my part (other books I have charged 2.99 or 3.99).  Rather, I am hoping to get more readers by making the price lower.  I put just as much work into this book as any of the others!  In fact, look for a mark down on Brother Bewitched soon, if you haven’t bought that one yet.

In the meantime, please follow and enter to win!  I would love to give you my book!!!!!!

Thanks for successful Giveaway!

Yes, people!  I am psyched!  My recent giveaway resulted in 451 free copies of my short story, Cyberpunk’d going out to my amazing readers!  I hope those of you who downloaded the story enjoyed it.  It was a lot of fun to write, and as one of my readers said, was a “dark TG story” that I hoped might get people just a little thirsty and hot!

Watch for more giveaways, people, both more fiction and more stuff.  I am ramping up my marketing efforts and working hard to bring you all the best TG fiction in the world!  Yes, that is my goal.

I remember when I put my very story on Amazon.  It was called Cramps, I was so nervous that no one would buy it, or that the first person who bought would slam me with a scathing review.  Well, guess what?  One of those things did happen!  Once the book posted, I checked day after day to see if anyone posted a review, and I was getting super discouraged because I wasn’t getting any reviews.  I was hoping and praying someone would review the book, and then one day I went to the website and found it:  a two  star review!

Screen Shot 2018-07-12 at 5.15.11 PM

The reader hated my book, and at the time it seemed that meant they hated me.

Needless to say, this not what I had fantasized about when I uploaded my precious little story and eagerly awaited to torrent of praise I hoped (maybe expected, craved?) would come rushing my way.

But no.  I got a slap in the face, and it was just what I needed.   I got my first review, and it was terrible and mean, and I felt bad, but then I dealt with it.  I realized that part of putting my work out there meant I would get bad reviews sometimes, and that they wouldn’t kill me, and I kept working on my second story, and a few days later when I got a positive review I was happy to know that at least one person, one random person out there in the world, had read and enjoyed my story.

So, I keep writing, and I keep getting good and bad reviews, and sometimes no reviews, and it is all okay because I love what I am doing and as long as even one person out there enjoys my work, that’s a win!

Do NOT buy my new book!

Check out my gender bending ebooks!

And especially My Epic Fantasy Series!

altered

In the future, you are not your body; you are data.  And, in this future world, corporations and governments can strip your data from one human body (called a sleeve) and place it in another, or even just store you indefinitely as information either with consciousness or within a simulated world.  This is the SCIFI basis of Altered Carbon, the name of both a book and a TV series.

Obviously, this opens up a lot of possibilities for gender swapping and exploration.  In the book and in the movie, it is clear that the main character, who identifies as male and embodies the tough guy investigator type (Deckard in Blade Runner, Mike Hammer in Mickey Spillane novels…etc…) has spent some time in female sleeves.  He mentions it in the book, and in the show when people scan his ID, all his former identities come up, and several are clearly female.

Unfortunately, neither the book nor the TV show delve too deeply into the gender games.  For those who enjoy the much more rare female to male swap, there is a fun sequence where a main character, Kristin Ortega, brings her grandmother back in the body of a hulking, tattooed and very male goon in order to celebrate El dia de los Muertos.  The actor does not over play the feminine mannerisms, and is actually very good at embodying a grandmother enjoying spending a holiday with her family.

All of the characters we meet seem to identify as straight male or female regardless of their sleeve’s sex, and there is little sense that the body swapping has led to any major changes in society in terms of how people perceive male and female.  It largely reflects our mainstream world with a SCIFI filter.  However, there is some interesting action, and the little taste of gender bending that’s there was enough to fire up my imagination.

Another Netflix series based on a novel that gets into some gender bending is Kiss Me First.

Get Book Here

Kiss Me First follows a young woman who spends a great deal of her time in a virtual reality game, using the name Shadowfax.  This show delves into identity more intentionally than AC, and without giving away too much I will reveal that there is a character in the virtual world who is not what she seems!  We also have characters logging in as other people, and lots of questions about what’s real and what isn’t.  I would love to see more gender stuff in future installments, but again what is there and what is potentially there got my imagination working.

maxresdefault

Lastly, a more straight up gender bending French film called I am Not an Easy Man.  In this film, like Second Nature, a chauvinistic male finds himself transported to a mirror universe where gender roles are revered.  Women are the aggressors, and they hold most of the money and the power.  Men are expected to do their best to look attractive for the women and are viewed as the lesser sex.  It’s a fun and interesting take on the usual story as the man finds himself struggling to deal with being objectified …etc… and there is a little body image stuff as at one point he contemplated putting inserts into his underwear to give himself a bigger butt.  The acting is all good, and the film does make some nice observations about gender and politics.

Check them out and let me know what you think!  I get lonely out here in my virtual world and would love to hear from you!  Thanks for reading!  Don’t forget to brush your teeth!
